A different kind of classroom

People learn deeply when they can experience, question and take part.

New Roots Eco Academy turns the natural world into a living classroom for ages 4–18 and adults. Our facilitators blend practical life skills, environmental learning, leadership and personal development into experiences people remember.

Every programme builds confidence, connection and care—for self, community and the earth.

What a session feels like

Wonder first. Knowledge follows.

We use a reliable rhythm so children feel secure while every session stays fresh.

  1. Welcome circle

Arrive, connect and meet the day’s big question.

  2. Explore

Observe outdoors, collect clues and follow curiosity.

  3. Make & test

Build, plant, experiment, cook or create with purpose.

  4. Reflect

Share discoveries and leave with a small action or challenge.

“We’re not filling children with facts. We’re helping them build a relationship with the living world—and trust their own ability to care for it.”

Good to know

Prepared for muddy knees and bright ideas.

Small, supported groups

Group sizes are kept intentionally small and matched to the activity and age group.

Weather-wise

We work with the weather where safe, with sheltered alternatives for severe conditions.

Inclusive by conversation

Tell us about learning, sensory, mobility, allergy or support needs before booking.

Safety-conscious

Clear boundaries, activity risk checks and emergency information form part of every programme.

Questions, answered

Before you pack the sun hat

What should my child bring?

A water bottle, closed shoes, a hat, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothes and a packed snack or lunch where requested. Clothes should be ready for soil, paint and play.

Do children need previous nature experience?

Not at all. Programmes are designed for first-time explorers and devoted nature lovers alike. Curiosity is the only starting requirement.

Can siblings attend together?

Often, yes. We use age bands as a guide and will recommend the best-fit group for each child.

How do fees and bookings work?

Fees depend on the programme length, group size and materials. Send an enquiry for current dates, availability and the exact fee before you commit.

Can you visit our school or community group?

Yes. We can shape a practical workshop around your learning outcomes, group size, venue and available time.
